Adipurush
Ever since the first trailer of Adipurush was released on May 9, 2023, the internet has been buzzing with the controversy regarding the modern adaptation of Ramayan starring Prabhas , Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan which has received negative responses from both critics and audiences .
The major controversy
surrounding Adipurush are its dialogues, poor VFX and chapri style of some of
the most respected gods of Hinduism. It came to surprise for many audiences
considering the enormous budget of the film which was 600cr INR.
The
dialogues written by Manoj Muntashir Shukla have received the most criticism ,
with many criticizing the poor style of conversation between the characters .
Some examples the examples of poor style of dialogues include Lord Hanuman mouthing lines like “
Kapde tere bap ka , tel tere bap ka! Jalegi bhi tere bap ki” and “jo hamari
beheno ko haath lagaega , unki lanka laga denge” . Hearing such dialogues from
a Hindu god has created controversy among many people.

Not only in India , Adipurush controversies reached Nepal also as Adipurush and other Hindi films were banned in Nepal following a controversy over its dialogues , including the mention of Sita or Janaki as “ India’s daughter”. The mayor of Katmandu , Balendra Shah mentioned on Thursday said he is ready to face any punishment but will not allow the film’s screening as the matter pertains to “Nepal’s sovereignty and independence.
“The film’s writer said
that Nepal was under India,this clearly shows India’s ill intention. To term
this as a stunt by the Nepal government and to issue an order by the court in
favour of screening the movie means, to accept that Nepal was once under India’s
rule, the court and the government are both the slaves of India,” Shah said in
a Facebook post. “I am ready to face any punishment for this but the movie
won’t work and won’t be allowed to run,” he added.
Following the decision of Balen Shah to ban the screening of Adipurush in Kathmandu , The Mayor of Dharan ,Harka Sampang and mayor of Pokhara also joined Balen Shah to ban the screening of Adipurush which has halted the release of Adipurush in Nepal.
